The base

Burning food and loss of energy result from laws of physics saying that the material at the bottom of the casserole expands. The revolutionary BergHOFF base succeeds in breaking those laws of nature. A special construction, consisting of layers of stainless steel, aluminium, iron and copper, makes sure the base remains flat while you are cooking and that it continuously stays into contact with the cooker.

The operation of the base is found on the following principles:

  •  the heat quickly enters the base through the copper bottom
  • after having collided with the iron layer (a bad heat conductor) the heat will be evenly distributed, including on the sides
  • the inside of the base warms up as fast as the outside, consuming a minimum amount of energy
  • thanks to a special construction, the heat is distributed over the entire surface in a very short time. Therefore, food can’t burn in the middle of the casserole
  • The aluminium in the base perfectly fits the rim of the casserole, avoiding the development of hollow spaces in which food remains can settle
